Stunning coastline, Blue Flag beaches, big skies and breath-taking countryside.

North Norfolk is renowned for its idyllic coastline no matter what time of the year it is. From panoramic beaches, picturesque villages and market towns to nature reserves and scenic cycle routes, North Norfolk is the ideal countryside retreat that will keep you coming back for more.

Take a day trip down to Wells-next-the-sea, well-known for its array of colourful beach huts and sandy dunes. Encompassed by towering pinewoods and golden sand, it comes as no surprise that this beach is one of the UK's best. This dog friendly seaside destination has so much to offer, with miles of scenic salt marshes to explore and the shelter of the woods to escape the summer heat. Get your crabbing gear ready and head down to the quay with friends and family. Give the line a tug and hope that the crabs are feeling peckish, then head to the water’s edge to have a crab race! Your seaside trip would not be complete without fish and chips. Perch on the harbour walls and tuck in as you admire the breath-taking seafront.

Just over 2 miles from Wells-next-the-sea is Holkham’s spectacular coastline. This dog-friendly beach features an expanse of unspoilt landscape to admire. Bring your bucket and spade, set up camp on one of the sandy dunes and spot horses cantering across the seashore. Head to Holkham Estate to uncover rich heritage and stroll across parkland in company with herds of peaceful deer.

When exploring the Norfolk Norfolk Coast by foot, there are plenty of nature reserves

providing uninterrupted views of beautiful countryside and coastline. Supported by The National Trust, Sheringham Park features over 1,000 acres to enjoy with marked trails, wild gardens, outdoor activities and courtyard cafes. Whether you wish to wander through ancient woodland with your furry friend or challenge yourself to a parkrun, Sheringham has something for everyone.

Norfolk’s coastline provides the perfect opportunity to explore by bike. Pedal across scenic cycle routes and stop off at the pub to enjoy a fresh drink to fuel your journey.

Some great cycle routes include those at Cley Next The Sea, Docking Village Pond, Castle Rising and more. Set your eyes on stunning sea views and unspoilt countryside as you cycle down windy lanes and unbeaten tracks. North Norfolk’s cycle routes are ideal for all ages and abilities, not just for those wanting to take on the Tour de Norfolk.

The North Norfolk Railway is the perfect local attraction if you love steam trains and stunning coastal scenery. Stretching 5 miles between Sheringham and the beautiful town of Holt, hop on and off throughout the day to explore the best along the way. The steam trains and vintage diesel trains (that run on some journeys) will provide you with a truly remarkable experience.

North Norfolk’s observatories and nature reserves are what birdwatcher's dream of. Whether you head to Wild Ken Hill, Holme Bird Observatory, RSPB Titchwell/Snettisham or The Brecks, there are plenty of beautiful landscapes to scan with a pair of binoculars. Home to a variety of birdlife, it’s the perfect way to try and spot some of the UK’s most striking birds.

If you are a keen golfer, North Norfolk’s coastline is the ideal place to swing your club. Hunstanton’s Golf Course is renowned for its championship links course, and when it is paired with picturesque landscape and sea views, it makes the perfect golfing experience. If you head along the coast, the Royal Cromer Golf Course features more stunning views of sandy hills and rolling green hills. Whatever your ability, North Norfolk has golf courses to suit everyone.
